Instructions
Preheat and Prepare Pans
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper and spray them with baking spray.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda until well combined.
Add Wet Ingredients
Pour in the vegetable oil and stir to coat the dry ingredients. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Stir in Buttermilk and Coffee
Slowly add the buttermilk, stirring to combine. Then, pour in the hot coffee and mix until the batter is smooth.
Bake the Cake Layers
Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 29-36 minutes. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 8-10 minutes.
Frost with Chocolate Fudge Frosting
Once the cakes are cool, spread a generous layer of chocolate fudge frosting on each layer. Stack the layers and frost the top and sides of the cake.
