Ingredients
  

For the Stew

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into bite-sized chunks Choose chuck roast for tenderness.
  • 4 cups beef broth Or stock.
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced into cubes
  • 3 medium carrots, sliced into rounds
  • 1 unit onion, chopped finely
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons beef stew seasoning A blend of your choice.
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • optional fresh herbs, for garnish (such as parsley or thyme) Enhances aroma and presentation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add beef stew meat, season with salt and pepper, and brown on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3 minutes.
  • Stir in diced potatoes and sliced carrots, then sprinkle in beef stew seasoning.
  • Pour in the beef broth, add Worcestershire sauce and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer.

Cooking

  • Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let it cook for 1.5 to 2 hours until the beef is tender.
  • Remove the bay leaf, taste the stew, and adjust seasonings if needed.

Notes

For a thicker stew, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir it into the stew towards the end of cooking. You can also add seasonal vegetables like mushrooms or celery for variation.
