Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 pound ground beef A protein that’s both accessible and flavorful.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Adds sweetness and depth.

Pasta and Sauce

  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini) Pasta should be cooked beforehand.
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes Provides moisture and acidity.
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce Adds richness.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For a blend of herbs.
  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Adjust according to preference.

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Melts beautifully on top.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a salty flavor.
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese Provides creaminess.

Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables soften, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce, half of the mozzarella cheese, and all of the ricotta cheese. Mix until evenly coated.

Assembly and Baking

  • Transfer the pasta mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes
