Instructions
Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, garlic, carrots, and celery. Cook gently for 5 to 7 minutes until softened and fragrant.
Add ground beef. Break it up and cook until browned with no pink remaining.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Reduce heat to low and simmer partially covered for 45 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil before serving.
Notes
Use fresh herbs when possible and don’t skip the soffritto base of vegetables for the best flavor. This sauce freezes well for easy meal prep.
