Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • Large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Carrots, finely diced
  • 2 Celery stalks, finely diced
  • 400 g Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 cup Beef broth or stock
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh parsley or basil leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, garlic, carrots, and celery. Cook gently for 5 to 7 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Add ground beef. Break it up and cook until browned with no pink remaining.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer partially covered for 45 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil before serving.

Notes

Use fresh herbs when possible and don’t skip the soffritto base of vegetables for the best flavor. This sauce freezes well for easy meal prep.
