Ingredients
  

  • 1 block firm tofu (cut into slabs)
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (for marinating and brushing)
  • 4 brioche buns or hamburger buns
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or vegan mayonnaise
  • 1 cup cabbage salad or vegan coleslaw
  • 1 medium sliced avocado
  • 4-6 dill pickles (sliced)

Instructions
 

  • Press the tofu by wrapping it in a kitchen towel and placing a heavy object on top for about 30 minutes.
  • Cut the pressed tofu into slabs and marinate in BBQ sauce for at least 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the marinated tofu slabs for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Brush additional BBQ sauce on both sides of the tofu after grilling.
  • Toast the buns on the grill or in a pan if desired.
  • Assemble the sandwiches by spreading mayonnaise on each bun, adding the grilled tofu, cabbage salad, avocado slices, and dill pickles.
  • Close the sandwiches and serve warm.

Notes

Store any leftover BBQ tofu in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
