Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 4 lbs brisket Choose a cut with good marbling.

Spice rub

  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Cooking liquid

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Use your favorite BBQ sauce.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to create the spice rub.
  • Rub the spice mixture generously all over the brisket, covering all sides.
  • Place the brisket in a roasting pan and pour the beef broth around it.
  • Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.

Cooking

  • Place the covered roasting pan in the preheated oven and let it cook for about 4 hours.
  • After 4 hours, carefully remove the foil and brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce all over the brisket.
  • Return the brisket to the oven uncovered and cook for an additional 30 minutes.

Resting and Serving

  • Once done cooking, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  • Slice the brisket against the grain to serve.
  • Consider serving with classic sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.

Notes

Allow leftovers to cool before storing. Wrap tightly in foil or place in an airtight container. Can last in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven to retain moisture.
