Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 ripe banana Use a ripe banana for best flavor
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional) Optional for added sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch salt
  • to taste Toppings of your choice (nuts, seeds, additional fruit, etc.) Add just before serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Mash the ripe banana in a mixing bowl.
  • Add the rolled oats, chia seeds, milk, honey or maple syrup (if using), vanilla extract, and salt to the bowl. Stir until well combined.
  • Divide the mixture evenly into two jars or bowls.
  • Cover the jars or bowls with lids or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Serving

  • In the morning, stir the oats and check the consistency, adding a little more milk if necessary.
  • Top with your favorite toppings such as sliced bananas, nuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon before serving.

Notes

Store banana overnight oats in the refrigerator for up to four days. Add any toppings just before eating to avoid sogginess.
