Ingredients
  

For the oats mixture

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based) Can use almond, oat, or other types of milk.
  • 1 large ripe banana, mashed Choose a ripe banana for natural sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts Walnuts or almonds work well.
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional) Add for extra sweetness, optional.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • a pinch salt

For serving (optional)

  • 1 additional banana slices
  • 2 tablespoons additional chopped nuts

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, milk, mashed banana, honey or maple syrup (if using), vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to mix all ingredients evenly.
  • Add the chopped nuts and gently fold them into the mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into a jar or airtight container, cover, and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 4 hours).

Serving

  • When ready to serve, give the oats a good stir. If the mixture feels too thick, add a splash of milk to achieve your desired consistency.
  • Top with additional banana slices and nuts before enjoying.

Notes

For a creamier texture, mash the banana well. You can customize this recipe further by adding seeds or different fruits. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
