Ingredients
  

For the Banana Bread

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Use very ripe bananas for better flavor.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Optional.

For the Topping

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Use whichever is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Optional.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas and melted butter until combined.
  • Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Add the baking soda and salt, then gently fold in the flour until just incorporated.
  • If using, stir in the chopped nuts. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

Topping and Baking

  • In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon (if using).
  • Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Drizzle the milk and honey (or maple syrup) over the top, distributing it evenly across the surface.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
