Ingredients

For the Cake Base

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the Gooey Filling

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • optional Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and one egg. Stir until well blended.
  • Press the cake mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form an even layer.

Filling Preparation

  • In another large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Add the granulated sugar, two eggs, and vanilla extract to the cream cheese. Mix well until fully combined.
  • Fold in the diced apples and cinnamon gently, ensuring the apples are evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Pour the apple mixture over the cake base, spreading it out evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is set and lightly golden. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Once done, remove from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
