Ingredients
  

Crust

  • 280 grams 280 grams (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 155 grams 155 grams (3/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • 150 grams 150 grams (2/3 cup) unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Cheesecake Filling

  • 450 grams 450 grams (16 oz) cream cheese, block style, room temperature
  • 105 grams 105 grams (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large 2 large eggs, room temperature Ensure eggs are at room temperature for better mixing.

Apple Layer

  • 2 medium 2 medium Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled, and sliced Choose Granny Smith for their tart flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 15 grams 15 grams (1 tablespoon) granulated sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease and line an 8-inch (20 cm) square oven-proof dish with parchment paper.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar. Pour in the melted butter, mixing until well combined. Reserve one-third of the mixture for crumble topping later.
  • Press the remaining dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake the crust for about 12 minutes until lightly golden. Allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.

Making the Cheesecake Filling

  • In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese with the remaining granulated sugar until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and beaten eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Preparing the Apple Layer

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced Granny Smith apples with ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and the tablespoon of granulated sugar.

Assembly and Baking

  • Pour the cheesecake filling over the cooled crust, distributing it evenly.
  • Layer the spiced apple slices on top of the filling, then sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture over the top.
  • Return to the oven and bake for approximately 38 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling has set.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

Serve chilled or warm with caramel sauce, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Dust with powdered sugar for a festive look.
