Air Fryer Tuna Melt

This air fryer tuna melt combines tuna, gooey cheese, and crispy bread for a quick and delicious meal.

Ingredients
  

For the tuna mixture

  • 1 can can of tuna, drained Use canned tuna in water or oil.
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Fresh lemon juice preferred.
  • ¼ cup diced celery
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For the sandwiches

  • 4 slices bread (your choice) Sourdough, ciabatta, or whole grain work well.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your preference) Feel free to mix different cheeses.
  • to taste Butter or olive oil for greasing Use for spreading on bread.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • Add diced celery, diced onion, and season with salt and pepper. Stir until combined.
  • Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread or brush them with olive oil.

Cooking

  • Place two slices of bread in the air fryer basket, buttered side down.
  • Spread half of the tuna mixture generously over each slice of bread.
  • Top each slice with shredded cheese.
  • Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  • Air fry for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Carefully remove the sandwiches from the air fryer, cut them in half, and enjoy warm.

Notes

You can serve air fryer tuna melt with a fresh salad, pickles, or potato chips. For reheating leftovers, use the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3 to 5 minutes.
