Ingredients

Ribs and Marinade

  • 2 pounds baby back ribs or spare ribs
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon cooking spray or olive oil For coating the air fryer basket

Instructions

Preparation

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs if it is still attached.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, chili powder, and cayenne pepper, if using.
  • Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring an even coating on all sides. Let the ribs sit for about 15 to 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray or olive oil.
  • Place the ribs in the air fryer basket, bending them if necessary to fit.
  • Cook the ribs for 25 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  • After 25 minutes, brush the barbecue sauce over the ribs. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, depending on your desired glaze and char.
  • Once the cooking time is complete, remove the ribs from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing.
