  • 2 pieces ripe plantains Choose plantains with yellow skin and dark spots for optimal sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil Use for coating the plantains.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • to taste optional spices (cinnamon, paprika, or chili powder) Enhance flavor according to preference.

Preparation

  • Begin by peeling the plantains. Cut off both ends, then score the skin lengthwise and remove it carefully.
  • Slice the plantains into thick rounds, about 1 inch in size.
  • Place the sliced plantains in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle salt, tossing them to coat evenly.
  • Add any optional spices at this stage.
  • Preheat your air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for about 3-4 minutes.

Cooking

  • Arrange the plantain slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap.
  • Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping the plantains halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Keep an eye on them toward the end of the cooking time, aiming for a golden brown color.
  • Once cooked, remove the plantains and let them cool slightly.

Serving

  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes
