Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup water Adjust as needed
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups filling of your choice (mashed potatoes, cheese, sauerkraut, or fruit)

Cooking Ingredients

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the egg and water. Stir to combine, and then knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  • While the dough rests, prepare your filling. If using potatoes, boil and mash them. You can add cheese or herbs for added flavor.

Rolling and Cutting

  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's about 1/8 inch thick. Use a round cutter or a glass to cut out circles of dough.
  • Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over and pinch the edges firmly to seal, ensuring no filling escapes.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly spray or brush the pierogies with olive oil to promote crispiness.
  • Place the pierogies in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to work in batches.
  • Cook for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving.
