Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 medium medium apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji) Choose apples that hold up well during cooking.
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped You can substitute with sunflower seeds for a nut-free version.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or maple syrup Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional) Optional for added flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • as needed Cooking spray or oil for air frying Used to prevent sticking.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Wash and dry the apples. Core each apple to remove the seeds and create space for filling.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine oats, chopped nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg if using. Mix well.
  • Add softened butter to the oat mixture and stir until it forms a crumbly texture.
  • Stuff each apple with the oat mixture, pressing it down gently.
  • Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or brush with oil.

Cooking

  • Place the stuffed apples in the basket, ensuring they have space around them.
  • Cook the apples in the air fryer for 15-18 minutes or until tender and golden on top. Check for doneness with a fork.
  • Carefully remove the apples and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For serving, drizzle maple syrup or honey over the top, or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3-5 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 3 months.
