Ingredients
  

For the apple fries

  • 4 medium-sized apples (any variety you prefer) Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work well.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For breading.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg Adds flavor.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch) For breading.
  • 2 large eggs Beaten for coating.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional) For sweetness.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavor.
  • as needed spray oil spray (such as canola or olive oil) For crispiness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by preheating your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Cut them into fry-shaped sticks, about 1/2 inch wide.

Breading

  • In one bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar (if using), and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
  • In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
  • Dip each apple fry into the flour mixture, coat well, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Place the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Lightly spray the apple fries with oil spray.
  • Cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
  • Once golden and crispy, remove the apple fries and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For serving, consider offering dips like caramel sauce or yogurt. Arrange on a platter with honey or melted chocolate for a festive display. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
